Lang has trained at the renowned Vidal Sassoon Salon in San Francisco where she learned extensive color training. Her specialty includes beautiful and natural highlights as well as rich all over color. She enjoys doing creative work which entails fun paneling with vibrant and imaginative tones.
From start to finish you will be guaranteed excellent work from Lang because she will ensure a proper consultation. This incorporates analyzing your skin tone and eye color to maximize the best color carefully selected for you. Without a doubt, definitely one of the best of the bay. After years of searching for a great stylist, I finally found the perfect one. Paul has been cutting my hair for the past few months, and every time I walk out of Plum Studios, I’m nothing but satisfied. You’d be amazed at how well he can shape and provide texture to such short hair. He’s passionate about what he does, and genuinely just wants his clients to be happy. I’m extremely nit-picky, and Paul never fails to forget the little details that bother me. Being a guy, I never pictured myself with color (after high school, that is). But I trusted Paul and Lang, and they persuaded me to try it. Lang did a perfect job, adding bits of blue (yes, blue!) to the very top and very back. I love how it looks and constantly get compliments everywhere I go.

I’ve been meaning to update my review with Lang and Paul. I had another appt at the end of September and once again I walked away a HAPPY Client. I always look forward to seeing them. I think it’s important for people to update their reviews for their hair dresser, manicurist, etc every so often so new potential clients will know that the service being offered does not deteriorate over time but instead remains consistent but in this case with Lang and Paul it only gets better and better

It was time for a change and something more sophisticated so Paul gave me a beautiful cut with amazing “swooshy” fringe like the people you see on facebook when you secretly stalk them because they always looks so pretty… anyway- a little off topic…
Overall, I absolutely love to get pampered at Plum Studios- especially with Paul and Lang. Everyone else is super nice and accommodating- there is also a lot of things to do/eat around the salon too so you can make a day out of it and get pampered and then go for a nice lunch around the area. With the sun almost always shining… why not?!

yelp8-6-10-I went in to get trimmed up and got the best service from Paul. The man is a styling genius. He definitely takes the time to style your hair to your exact specifications and if you are indecisive about what you want, he will help guide on what would look good. He even taught me how to deal with this ridiculous cowlick (?) On the back of my head. Thanks Paul.
9-22-10-Just received an *excellent* cut from Paul! I’m extremely happy with the results. He listened to what I wanted and made it happen. I have long straight hair but he also specializes in curly hair. I highly recommend him.

go see Paul Andrew for cut and Lang for color. They’re a great duo. Every time I’ve been to see them (for about 2 years now), they nail it. Perfect every time.
I have long-ish hair for a guy so I let them get creative with what they want to do. My favorite thing to do is walk in and say, “do whatever you want.” and see what they come up with. I’ve loved it every time. They’re super talented.
I wouldn’t drive all the way from Oakland for no reason. Their talent on my hair is worth the drive. I can 100% recommend them to anyone.

I moved up to the Bay Area from L.A. several months ago and have tried a few hair-cutting places that were pretty good, but not great. Then, through my wife, I discovered Plum Studios. Paul, who is a co-owner, has cut my hair twice now, and they are the two best haircuts I’ve ever had. He really has a passion for his work, and it shows in the outcome. I can’t say enough about how great the whole experience is. No awkwardness or forced conversation. (Paul’s a cool guy.) I can’t lie, I was really nervous for the first appointment but they made me feel really comfortable,meeting my needs and professionally tweeking

I’ve had the same stylist for over 15 years, but decided to go and see Lang to have my color done. I wanted something fun, vibrant, and different. I had seen some of her color jobs and instantly wanted her to do my color. When I went to see her for the first time (I’ve since been back twice), we talked about what I wanted to do, and she gave me some really good points on where the color should go and how it would look later on down the road (which is really important to me…longevity) Once we agreed on how the look was going to be, before we got started, I was offered a beverage (who doesn’t like a glass of wine while getting their hair done!?) and immediately felt comfortable in a new salon. The first time with the bleaching/coloring, it didnt come out as bright as I had hoped, but I went back a few months later and we did it again. The results were amazing! We had achieved the look I had in my head 100%. Subtle blue bangs and the tips of my hair looked dipped in blue ink. I LOVED IT! Again, very comfortable. I went back for a 3rd time in September 2010 and we did more color. It is still looking good, after 4 months. I normally do my own color, but I’m so happy with what Lang does I don’t think I want to do it myself anymore. I would highly recommend Lang for color. She’s amazing. Thank you for giving me fabulous hair!

First time at Plum studio. I’ve been going to structure’s hair design for over 12 years. Looking for a new stylist and with the help of yelp and all the great reviews…had to see it for myself. I got the Japanese straightening done by Lang and she did a fantastic job! She offered me a glass of red wine and made me feel at home. -now what salon does that?! I’m going back in two weeks to see Paul for a haircut and I can’t wait for him to work his magic on my hair!

SEX GODDESS! That is what Paul and Lang turned me into according to the hubby’s commentary. Went back for a trim, color, and style… all I can say is F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S! Lang and Paul truly do have magic hands and know how to work them well. As an added bonus they both are the most personable stylists ever, not to mention they know what works with clients’ facial structures.

I found Paul through yelp reviews over two years ago, and this review is so long over due. He is the BESSSTTTT! I went to him after a haircut I got recently that I wasn’t satisfied with, and Paul completely revamped my hair and gave me the cut and style I was looking for. For his price, it’s definitely worth it. His lady Lang does the hair coloring, and she did it for me once and it turned out great.
He was also the guy to cut off my super long 11 inches of hair that I’ve had for literally my entire life when I decided to change things up and donated to locks for love.
Go to Paul! He’s super chill, easy to talk to, and listens to your needs. You won’t be disappointed!

I followed my stylist from Plum Studios to her new salon, but now a little over two years later, I decided I needed a change. I returned to Plum, this time to see Paul and Lang. They are every bit as talented and personable as other reviewers have suggested. Paul cleaned up my grown-out pixie cut into a sharp ‘do. He showed me new techniques for drying and styling, suggested (put didn’t push) products, and styled my hair in a hip, age-appropriate style. I really appreciated that Paul had lots of ideas for me when I told him I knew more about what I didn’t want than what I wanted, and that I was ambivalent about staying short or growing longer. He’s exactly what I’ve been looking for in a stylist — someone talented and experienced, but also creative and edgy. His fun and open personality just added to the positive experience.
I initially just went to Lang for a color consultation before my cut, but she wound up squeezing me in for a quick toner application to an unhappy dye job I received the week before. Problem color solved in fifteen minutes! She also talked to me about my very light blonde brows, ultimately suggesting that I darken them a couple of shades to bring more attention to my eyes. I went for her suggestion and let her dye my brows. I was extremely happy with the result. Thanks, Lang and Paul, for helping me get my sexy back!

Lang and Paul are amazing!! You have to go see them!!
I was in misery with my hair before. I went from salon to salon and never got good results I ended up with orangey bronzey hair instead of blonde highlights most of the time. If it wasn’t that there was always something else that would go wrong.
Lang and Paul talk about what you want and they give you recommendations. They also talk about your daily hair routine and give suggestions on how to make it easier and your hair healthier. They recommend products but don’t push you into buying any of theirs.
They also offer drinks wine, coffee, etc.
My meter outside was almost out of time so Lang walked down a few buildings and put more quarters in for me! They are very considerate and nice!!!! If I ever move away I think I would make a special trip just to get my hair done here. lol
It was well worth the price!!!!!

My hair was like a million different colors and she worked some miracles out for me. The staff is very friendly. Lang ordered me a sandwich and picked it up while I sat under the dryer. Then her counterpart, Paul, squeezed me in for an wonderful cut. He kept the length like a asked and still managed to put in perfect layers to give me some fullness. Thanks to that dynamic duo my hair is back to its original color with a few highlights and my layers are perfect! Can’t thank them enough. I found my new salon!

Lang is an amazing colorist. She transformed a really botched job (no thanks to the colorist at UK Hair, also in Burlingame) into a really beautiful color with great depth and warmth.
Paul is an amazing stylist. My cut looks great even if my hair’s been messed up by the wind.
Bonus: both are available on Sundays and Mondays.

OMG yessss!
Lang and Paul rocked my world!
After sadly giving up my platinum blondness b/c I moved away from the best hair person ever down in Redondo Beach, I decided to go back to my natural color.
When I tried to go in for my first appointment, Lang gave me some deep conditioner and told me to come back after a week b/c I wouldn’t like the results with my hair in its current state. I was sad but got a good vibe from her so I followed her instructions and came back a week later ready for a makeover.
Lang gave me a killer warm espresso brown, and put some dark teal in too. Paul gave me a blunt cut and tried to keep as much length as possible despite me having avoided a cut for a few months. The two of them are cool, nice and are so fun to go to. I definitely am relieved to have found Lang, and Paul’s cut totally complimented the creative color she did.
They both took time to talk to me, get to know me and figure out what would be best for my daily schedule. Lang was up front about what to expect out of my color, and I really appreciated it. I felt like there were no surprises, they cared about their work, and it was a great start to my day. Lang did creative color and put dark teal in my hair, and I fully expected it to get all over my towel and sheets. However I followed her directions, and I have yet to “tie dye” a towel or turn my pillow case teal. The color is holding and I love it!
I had to go dark because the maintenance for platinum was getting out of control, but I had so much fun with Lang that it makes me want to keep something going so I can come get color here and there.
Just like the reviews say, they are an awesome team and I’m psyched to have found them!

THE DYNAMIC DUO – Paul and Lang are absolutely the best! I have been going to them for sometime now and it’s worth every penny! Paul cuts hair beautifully and just the way I like it. Lang does amazing with color!
They are both personable and professional at the same time. I am always open to their suggestions and advice and I always get the BEST compliments on my hair!
I had a Japanese straightening done, cut and color and they did it all in ONE VISIT and it was very affordable and painless. If you go to Plum Studio, go and see them! An amazing team!

This was my first time going so I was a bit skeptic considering I’ve had a lot of failed hair styles done by the stylists. I was booked with Lang for coloring and Paul for the cut. Let me just say, they were awesome. They really listen to what you want done to your hair. They made suggestions but stuck to ultimately what made you happy. My hair color was better than I had hoped for and the cut, though just a trim, changed the look completely. Both Land and Paul was really nice to give tips on maintaining my locks. I would say they are truly the super duo of the place. If you’re reading this: Thanks guys for salvaging my once dead hair and transforming it into a easy to manage yet modern do.

It truly has been a decade since I decided to dye my hair. I’ve been ale naturale and loving it. However, I’ve been channeling my inner Daria (rocking all black chic/grunge outfits) and it was time to lighten my dark long Asian hair. Afterall, I’m not actually going for the goth look.
In short, I had a nightmare of an hair dye experience at salon in SF(a place I normally just have my hair trimmed, but seen good color results from other clients). I’m Chinese, with healthy locks of dark brown hair, wanting a light ashy brown color. Not your quintessential orange blond fob hair. No offense. I came out looking real fucked up– blond/green streaks. Exactly what I described as no-no’s.
I was in a panic, my office moved to ghetto South San Francisco and I was running out of hats to wear.. my self-esteem in the pits. So based on the raving color correction reviews on Yelp, I contacted Lang and left her a desperate voicemail. Her schedule was packed and Sunday was her next available session. I took it.
I stepped into Plum Studio 5 minutes late (newbie to the area and in search of parking) and was greeted by Lang patiently waiting. There was a class going on downstairs so my hair operation was going to be in the quaint salon studio upstairs. The get-to-know was easy; Lang has a great personality. After I explained what I was going for, she said it was an easy fix. She was emotionally supportive and clearly very knowledgeable. The process was painless and she went above expectations to fix my pitiful hair with multiple toners, low-lights and permanent colors.
The end result was not the ash brown I wanted originally, but a natural warm brown color Lang and I both agreed on. My hair is looking good and needless to say I feel much better

Lang is phenomenal! I had an award ceremony event and was stressing about doing my own makeup. She was able to work me into her busy schedule, and did such a wonderful job at doing my makeup, that I knew I could trust her as a hair colorist too.
She does a beautiful job! I had recently moved to the area and had a horrible experience at another salon. I was scared to let someone color my hair again But Lang put me right at ease and did a beautiful job touching up my roots and giving me a lovely natural looking blonde color.
Her partner hair cutter Paul also gave me THE BEST haircut I have ever had!!
When I need a cut and color in the bay area. They are who I will go to from here on out. One time in their chairs and I was hooked. I’m definitely a loyal client and will recommend them to everyone I know.
